Jean Ayres, Sensory integration is defined as the ability of the CNS (central nervous system) to receive, process and organize sensory stimuli in the external environment and translate them into an adaptive response.

It uses the information in three basic senses: touch, movement, positioning, planning and sequencing movements, coordinate both sides of the body, develop balance, coordination of eye and hand movements, and develop awareness of the body.

Within the therapeutic principles include:

1. Normalize sensory afferents.
2. Consider the development process in terms of spiral stability / mobility
3. Effectiveness in determining the child's response (a)
4. Have the child (a) is an active members, respond appropriately when it achieves mastery over movement and environment.
